Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor as soon as possible if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Blurred vision or other changes in vision
  2. clumsiness or unsteadiness
  3. lightheadedness or fainting
  4. ringing in the ears
  5. skin rash or itching

Less common

  1. Bladder pain
  2. bloody or cloudy
  3. cough or hoarseness
  4. diarrhea
  5. excessive muscle tone
  6. eye pain
  7. feeling dizzy
  8. frequent urge to urinate
  9. itching of the vagina or genital area
  10. muscle stiffness
  11. muscle tension or tightness
  12. nausea
  13. pain during sexual intercourse
  14. painful, burning, or difficult urination
  15. shortness of breath, tightness in chest, or wheezing
  16. stomach pain
  17. thick, white vaginal discharge with no odor or with a mild odor
  18. troubled breathing

Rare

  1. Asthma
  2. bleeding from the rectum
  3. bloody or black, tarry stools
  4. change in sexual desire or performance
  5. chest pain
  6. double vision
  7. dryness of eye
  8. ear pain
  9. fainting
  10. fast heartbeat
  11. fever, chills, or sore throat
  12. hallucinations (seeing, hearing, or feeling things that are not there)
  13. hives
  14. increased sense of hearing
  15. increased sensitivity to sun
  16. irritation or soreness of mouth
  17. joint or muscle pain or stiffness
  18. kidney stones
  19. large pupils of eyes
  20. lower back, side, or stomach pain
  21. menstrual changes
  22. mood or mental changes
  23. nerve pain or twitching
  24. pelvic pain
  25. problems in speaking
  26. problems with urination
  27. prolonged, painful, inappropriate penile erection
  28. red or irritated eyes
  29. sensitivity of eyes to light
  30. swelling of face
  31. swollen glands
  32. talking, feeling, and acting with excitement and activity you cannot control
  33. unusual bleeding or bruising
  34. unusual feeling of well-being
  35. unusual tiredness or weakness
  36. vomiting of blood or material that looks like coffee grounds

Incidence not known

  1. Blistering, peeling, or loosening of skin
  2. light-colored stools
  3. confusion
  4. dark urine
  5. decreased urine output
  6. fever
  7. increased thirst
  8. itching
  9. lack of appetite
  10. large, hive-like swelling on face, eyelids, lips, tongue, throat, hands, legs, feet, or sex organs
  11. muscle pain or cramps
  12. muscle spasm or jerking of all extremities
  13. muscle stiffness
  14. pain, warmth, or burning in fingers, toes, and legs
  15. red skin lesions, often with a purple center
  16. sore throat
  17. sudden loss of consciousness
  18. sweating
  19. vomiting

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Abnormal dreams
  2. agitation
  3. confusion
  4. constipation
  5. diarrhea
  6. dizziness
  7. drowsiness
  8. dryness of mouth
  9. flushing or feeling of warmth
  10. headache
  11. heartburn
  12. increased appetite
  13. increased cough
  14. memory problems
  15. nausea
  16. swelling of arms or legs
  17. tingling, burning, or prickly sensations
  18. tremor
  19. trouble in sleeping
  20. vomiting

Less common or rare

  1. Breast pain
  2. generalized slowing of mental and physical activity
  3. increased thirst
  4. loss of strength or energy
  5. muscle weakness

Incidence not known

  1. Unexpected or excess milk flow from breasts
  2. swelling of the breasts or breast soreness in males
